Read before you play

The rulebook

Last updated 1 Oct 2026

Everything you need to know to play in Los Santos. Each rule says what it means and, where it helps, gives an example of where the line is. The colour on a rule shows how seriously we treat it; the classes below list the penalties. Staff can act on the spirit of a rule as well as its wording.

Pick a class to see only its rules. Repeat or combined offences can lead to longer bans; staff decide the final penalty based on the situation.

Reports go through a ticket in our Discord or /report in game. Include the player’s ID, what happened and a clip if you have one. Don’t argue rules in the middle of a scene: play it out, then report it.

01

Before you join

The basics for being part of the community, before any roleplay starts.

  1. 1.1

You must be 18 or older

    Class D

Nexura is an adult community. Everyone in the city and on our Discord must be at least 18.

  2. 1.2

    Bring a working microphone

    Class A

Roleplay here is voice-first. Your mic needs to be clear and usable; constant crackling, cutting out or whispering pulls everyone out of the scene.

  3. 1.3

    Pick a believable name

    Class A

Your character is a person who lives in the city, so their name should be one a real person could have.

    Not okay

Names that are jokes, references or slurs, like “Mike Hunt” or “xXNoScopeXx”.

    Okay

Ordinary names such as Dana Reyes, Tom Whitlock or Aiko Mori.

  4. 1.4

    Don’t idle in the city

    Class A

Standing AFK for long stretches takes a slot someone else could use. If you need to step away for more than a few minutes, log off.

02

Staying in character

The city is one long shared story. These rules keep it from breaking.

  1. 2.1

    Stay in character

    Class A

If something seems wrong, keep the scene going and report it afterwards. Stopping to argue about rules ruins the moment for everyone involved and doesn’t solve anything faster.

    Not okay

Someone rams your car, so you stop and type “VDM, reported” in chat.

    Okay

Your character reacts (shouts, calls 911, limps away) and you report it once the scene is over.

  2. 2.2

OOC chat is for emergencies only

    Class A

Out-of-character chat is for technical problems that genuinely stop you playing. It isn’t for jokes, questions or commentary.

    Not okay

“OOC: lol nice driving” or “OOC: where is everyone?”

    Okay

“OOC: I’ve fallen through the map and can’t move.”

  3. 2.3

    Play through restarts

    Class A

An upcoming restart doesn’t lower the stakes. Don’t do anything reckless in the last few minutes just because it’s about to reset.

  4. 2.4

    Keep music stream-safe

    Class B

Only play music you know is safe for streams: in-game stations or royalty-free tracks. Copyrighted songs can get real people’s channels struck.

03

Metagaming & powergaming

What your character is allowed to know, and what they’re allowed to do.

  1. 3.1

    No metagaming

    Class D

Your character only knows what they learned in the city. Using information from streams, Discord or OOC chat to make in-game decisions breaks trust for everyone, so we treat it very seriously.

    Not okay

You see on a friend’s stream that a crew is waiting for you at the pier, so you suddenly avoid the pier.

    Okay

You drive to the pier as planned, because your character has no way of knowing.

  2. 3.2

    No powergaming

    Class AClass B

Don’t force outcomes that the other person has no chance to respond to, or ignore how the world realistically works to get an advantage.

    Not okay

“/me knocks you out, ties you up and takes your phone” in a single action.

    Okay

Breaking it into steps (threaten, give them time to react, then act) so the scene actually plays out.

  3. 3.3

    Downed means down

    Class B

While you’re downed you can’t call out locations, organise your friends or use your inventory. If you’re revived, you can’t go back into the scene that took you down.

  4. 3.4

    No moving wealth between characters

    Class C

Money, cars, property and items stay with the character who earned them. Don’t pass them to your other characters, directly or through friends.

04

Combat & death

Violence needs a reason and has consequences.

  1. 4.1

    No random violence

    Class C

Every attack needs a roleplay reason that the other person can understand. Killing or ramming people with no interaction first is not allowed.

    Not okay

Running someone over at the garage because they were there.

    Okay

An argument escalates over several minutes and ends in a fight.

  2. 4.2

    Value your life

    Class B

React realistically when your life is threatened. If several people have guns on you, comply; don’t treat your character as disposable.

    Not okay

Pulling a gun while three armed people are already aiming at you.

    Okay

Handing over your wallet and looking for a chance to escape later.

  3. 4.3

New life after a character death

    Class C

If your character dies for good, the new character has no memories, money or relationships from the old one.

05

Criminal activity

Crime is welcome when it creates stories, not when it ends them.

  1. 5.1

    Initiate clearly

    Class B

Robberies, kidnappings and hold-ups need a clear, spoken start so the other person knows what’s happening and can respond.

  2. 5.2

    Respect police minimums

    Class B

Big jobs like banks and heists need the minimum number of police on duty shown in the city before you start.

  3. 5.3

    Leave new players alone

    Class B

Don’t target people who are clearly in their first days in the city. Give them time to find their feet.

  4. 5.4

    No friendly hostages

    Class C

Hostages can’t be your friends or crew members playing along. A hostage should be a genuine part of the scene.

06

Safe zones

Some places are off-limits for crime so everyone has somewhere calm.

  1. 6.1

    No crime in safe zones

    Class B

Hospitals, police stations, city hall and job centres are safe zones. No robberies, kidnappings or fights inside them.

  2. 6.2

Don’t use safe zones to escape

    Class B

Running into a safe zone to avoid a scene that already started outside it doesn’t end the scene.

07

Decency & respect

Characters can be villains. Players can’t be.

  1. 7.1

    No hate or harassment

    Class D

Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and targeted harassment are never allowed, in character or out.

  2. 7.2

    Sensitive scenes need consent

    Class D

Scenes involving torture or other extreme content need the other player’s out-of-character agreement first. Sexual roleplay is not allowed.

  3. 7.3

    Respect streamers and their audiences

    Class C

Don’t stream-snipe, harass people in their chat, or show other players’ private information on stream.

08

Cheats & exploits

Zero tolerance.

  1. 8.1

    No cheats or advantage mods

    Class D

Mod menus, aimbots, ESP and any tool that gives you an advantage get you removed from the city permanently.

  2. 8.2

    Report bugs, don’t use them

    Class CClass D

If you find a bug or exploit, report it. Using it, or sharing how to use it, is treated the same as cheating.
